Mississippi to The MAX!
MS to THE MAX is an arts integrated unit for 4th grade students featuring four MS artists. With four lesson plans developed by Teaching Artist Nancy Ray, students make connections in ELA, math, science, social studies and the arts while learning about Walter Anderson, B.B. King, Elvis Presley and Jim Henson. The residency involved Teaching Artist Nancy Ray presenting a powerpoint on Walter Anderson to all 4th grade students with a demonstration lesson that followed.
MS Humanities Scholar Carla Falkner will present an Elvis presentation to all 4th grade students in January, 2019 The culminating activity for this unit is a field trip to The MAX (The MS Arts and Entertainment Experience) in Meridian. This project is funded through a matching grant with the MS Humanities Council, a grant through East MS Community Foundation and The MAX.
